JIM STANARD MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
About the Stanard Program
Jim Stanard was HLOC’S Founding Director and a Professor Emeritus from Humboldt State University. In his 34 years in our community he taught hundreds of voice students and directed over 90 productions with HLOC and HSU. His students are currently performing and teaching in all corners of the United States. A tenor and composer, Stanard retired to his home state of Montana with his wife Jeana. This scholarship has been established to encourage young people in their vocal studies by helping them to purchase needed vocal books. Scholarship awards are open to those who are studying voice either privately or in the school setting, and who are between the ages of 16 and 25. The scholarships are awarded yearly in the spring.
Applications Due April 15, 2024
HLOC will be honoring the work of Founding Artistic Director and Voice teacher, Jim Stanard, at the 50 Year Celebration February 24 and 25. Two music book scholarships will be awarded to students interested in continuing to develop their vocal skills.
